This policy explains what information Bringing Your Tech to Life (“BYT2L,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, why we collect it, how it may be used or shared, how we protect information entrusted to us, and the choices available to our clients and website visitors.

Our core privacy commitment. We do not sell or rent client personal information. We use or share information only when reasonably necessary to provide services, operate and improve our business and website, process transactions, comply with law, protect rights and safety, or carry out a service the client has requested or authorized.

01 Who we are and what this policy covers

Bringing Your Tech to Life is a computer repair, technology support, IT, and digital-security service business located in King, North Carolina. This policy applies to information handled through our website, service tickets, Google Workspace-connected internal ticket system, email, telephone, text messaging, remote-support sessions, in-person service, device repair, managed services, security-incident response, data recovery, consulting, invoices, and related business operations.

Business address: 1260 Ralph Boyles Rd., King, NC 27021
Primary phone: 336-270-9755

This policy applies to personal information we collect or temporarily possess while providing services. It also applies to information that may be visible to us on a client-owned device while performing authorized work.

02 Who may use our services

Our repair and professional services are intended for persons who are legally able to authorize and enter into a service transaction. As a general business rule, BYT2L does not knowingly accept service authorizations from persons under 18 years of age. A parent, legal guardian, school, employer, or other legally authorized adult or organization may authorize service for a device used by a minor.

If we learn that a minor has submitted personal information or attempted to authorize service without appropriate authorization, we may require an adult or other authorized party to complete the transaction and may delete information that is not needed for a legitimate business or legal purpose.

03 Information we collect

Depending on the service or method of contact, we may collect or receive information such as:

  • First and last name; company name and position or role, when applicable.
  • Home, mobile, or other telephone numbers; email address; physical, billing, mailing, or service address.
  • Preferred method of communication and names of individuals authorized to pick up equipment or receive information.
  • Device type, brand, model, serial number, IMEI, service tag, other device identifier, operating system, and reported symptoms.
  • Service requests, intake notes, diagnostic findings, repair history, invoices, service reports, warranty records, photographs, screenshots, and supporting documentation.
  • Temporary device login credentials when necessary to perform authorized service.
  • Information supplied during security-incident, account-compromise, identity-protection, data-recovery, or other specialized services.
  • Payment and transaction information processed through third-party payment providers.
  • Reviews, comments, feedback, messages, files, photographs, or other information you voluntarily provide.
  • Website and usage information such as IP address, browser, operating system, referring page, approximate location derived from technical data, pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, session activity, and similar analytics information.

04 How we collect information

  • Directly from you through a ticket, contact form, privacy request, email, telephone call, text message, consultation, remote session, or in-person visit.
  • From the device or equipment while performing authorized diagnostics, repair, setup, migration, recovery, security analysis, or maintenance.
  • From service records we create during the job, including notes, photographs, screenshots, logs, invoices, and reports.
  • From our website, server logs, cookies, analytics tools, embedded services, anti-abuse tools, and similar technologies.
  • From payment processors, manufacturers, vendors, service providers, or other third parties involved in a service you requested or authorized.

05 Passwords, access credentials, and recovery keys

Passwords are excluded from our long-term service records. When a device password, PIN, account password, or other credential is required to perform authorized work, we may temporarily record or receive that information for the duration of the service.

Temporary credentials may be handled as follows:

  • Electronic copies may be stored temporarily on a password-protected, encrypted, locally accessible NAS used by BYT2L.
  • Written or printed credentials provided at intake may remain with the device in secured shop custody and inaccessible to unauthorized persons.
  • Credentials printed or written on intake, invoice, or service-report materials are returned to the client or destroyed with a cross-cut shredder after service, depending on the client’s request and the circumstances.
  • Temporary electronic password records are deleted after the service is completed.

For managed-service clients, BYT2L may retain credentials for a dedicated administrative account created for remote maintenance. Routine managed maintenance is performed through that administrative account rather than through a client’s personal profile. If attended work must be performed within a personal profile, the client may provide a PIN or credential during the session and BYT2L does not retain it.

BYT2L may retain BitLocker recovery keys, FileVault recovery keys, or comparable device-recovery keys for future client assistance. These keys are retained because they may be required to recover access to the client’s device but, when the device is no longer in our possession, do not by themselves give BYT2L access to the client’s files. Identity must be reasonably verified before such a key is released.

06 Information we may encounter on a client device

Computer repair and technical support sometimes makes unrelated personal information visible even when a technician is not seeking it. For example, a technician copying a screenshot of an error message from a Pictures or Screenshots folder may briefly see thumbnails of other photographs; a diagnostic utility may display usernames or file paths; a browser may show the name of a signed-in account; or an antivirus scan may identify a file by name.

Information encountered incidentally remains confidential. Technicians do not intentionally inspect unrelated files, photographs, messages, account contents, or other personal information beyond what is reasonably necessary to diagnose, document, verify, or complete the work the client authorized.

07 Specialized security, recovery, and investigative services

For security-incident, malware, account-compromise, identity-theft-response, data-recovery, and forensic-style troubleshooting services, the nature of the authorized service may require examination of files, logs, browser information, extensions, sign-in records, account settings, session information, emails or messages relevant to the incident, installed software, security exclusions, screenshots, or other device and account data relevant to the investigation.

BYT2L limits that examination to what is reasonably related to the authorized scope of service and treats the resulting information, reports, screenshots, and investigative records as confidential client information.

08 How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

  • Schedule, authorize, diagnose, repair, configure, maintain, secure, recover, invoice, and return devices or provide other requested services.
  • Communicate about appointments, ticket status, parts, estimates, service findings, warranties, follow-up, pickup, unpaid balances, disputes, or other service matters.
  • Maintain service history so we can identify prior work, parts, configurations, and warranty information.
  • Prepare photographs, screenshots, diagnostic records, service reports, incident reports, certificates, or other documentation connected to the work performed.
  • Process payments and verify transactions through authorized payment processors or financial-service platforms.
  • Purchase, register, activate, configure, renew, or assist with third-party products or services selected by the client.
  • Provide client-authorized assistance with identity-protection, credit-freeze, data-broker-removal, security, warranty, shipping, manufacturer, or similar third-party services.
  • Operate, secure, analyze, troubleshoot, and improve our website, ticket system, communications, business processes, and customer experience.
  • Detect or prevent fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, security threats, or misuse of our systems.
  • Comply with accounting, tax, warranty, recordkeeping, legal, regulatory, insurance, or dispute-resolution obligations.

09 Service communications and marketing

Clients who request or receive services from BYT2L agree that we may contact them using the contact information they provide for service-related and business communications. These communications may include ticket updates, appointment reminders, part or repair status, invoices, warranty information, security notices, follow-up, and occasional information about BYT2L products, services, educational resources, or company news.

Clients may opt out of promotional or marketing communications after service. Opting out of marketing does not prevent BYT2L from sending communications that are reasonably necessary for an active service, warranty, transaction, account issue, security matter, legal obligation, or unpaid balance.

Information encountered on a client’s device during service is not used for marketing, profiling, or advertising.

10 When we share information

We do not sell or rent client personal information.

We may disclose or transmit information when reasonably necessary to operate our business or perform a service the client requested or authorized. We do not need to identify every vendor by name in this policy, and the vendors we use may change over time. Categories and examples include:

  • Payment processors and payment platforms, such as Square, PayPal, or another lawful business-payment service chosen by BYT2L or the client.
  • Email, communications, cloud, ticketing, and productivity service providers used to operate the business.
  • Remote-support providers used for attended or managed technical support.
  • Manufacturers, distributors, parts suppliers, shipping providers, warranty administrators, or software vendors when needed to complete a purchase, repair, replacement, registration, activation, or warranty claim.
  • Security-software, identity-protection, credit, data-broker-removal, privacy, or similar providers when the client chooses a service and authorizes BYT2L to assist.
  • Website hosting, analytics, anti-abuse, embedded-content, mapping, review, video, cookie-consent, and similar website service providers.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, accountants, attorneys, collections providers, or other parties where reasonably necessary for business, legal, tax, insurance, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.
  • Law enforcement, courts, government agencies, or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, property, safety, or prevent fraud or abuse.

When BYT2L enters information into a third-party service at the client’s direction—for example, purchasing a security subscription, initiating identity-protection services, assisting with a credit freeze, or registering a product—the third party collects and processes the information under its own privacy practices. BYT2L may temporarily handle the information necessary to complete that task but does not intentionally retain sensitive information longer than needed unless another section of this policy explains otherwise.

11 Payments and financial information

Card and electronic payments are processed through third-party payment or financial-service providers. BYT2L currently uses Square and PayPal and may offer other lawful business-payment methods, such as Cash App, Zelle, or comparable services, when appropriate.

BYT2L does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers in ordinary service records. Payment processors may retain card, bank, billing, transaction, fraud-prevention, or account information under their own terms and privacy policies. If payment information must be entered to purchase or activate a third-party service selected by the client, that information is provided to the applicable vendor for the transaction and is not retained by BYT2L beyond what is reasonably necessary to complete and document the authorized service.

12 Website cookies, analytics, session replay, and embedded services

Our website uses or may use cookies, local storage, tags, scripts, pixels, session identifiers, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, prevent abuse, measure traffic, understand how visitors use pages, diagnose website problems, and improve content and usability.

Examples of technologies we use or may use include Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Meta technologies, and comparable analytics or measurement services. Microsoft Clarity may capture interaction information such as page rendering, clicks, scrolling, navigation, and session-replay or heatmap data. We configure analytics and session-recording tools to avoid intentionally collecting sensitive information entered into forms where the technology provides masking or exclusion controls.

The site may also embed or connect to third-party services such as Google Maps, YouTube, Google Reviews, reCAPTCHA, payment pages, social-media features, scheduling tools, or similar services. Those third parties may receive technical information when their content or service is loaded and process that information according to their own policies.

A cookie-consent or preference tool may be provided so visitors can control non-essential cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies and security technologies may operate where needed to provide requested site functions, prevent fraud, or protect the site.

13 Photographs, screenshots, reports, and device data

BYT2L may photograph hardware, damage, serial labels, internal components, completed work, diagnostic screens, error messages, or other service-related information. We may also capture screenshots when needed to document a problem, repair, configuration, security finding, or completed service.

A photograph or screenshot may incidentally contain a username, file name, thumbnail, application name, notification, or other information visible on the screen. Such material is treated as confidential service documentation and is not published or used for marketing without appropriate permission.

14 Temporary copies, data migration, and data recovery

Some repairs, migrations, backups, recoveries, or diagnostic procedures require BYT2L to create a temporary copy of client data on shop-controlled storage. Unless a different arrangement is documented for the service, temporary client data retained by BYT2L after equipment pickup is scheduled for deletion within 30 days.

This 30-day period allows time to address a failed transfer, missing file, warranty question, or other immediate post-service issue. Clients should verify their returned or recovered data promptly and maintain their own backups.

15 Record retention

BYT2L maintains service reports and invoices as long-term business records. Current service records are generally maintained on secured local storage for approximately three years and may then be archived to air-gapped, password-protected and encrypted external storage maintained for business continuity and redundancy, including secured off-site storage.

PasswordsTemporary only. Deleted when the service is completed. Not in long-term records.
Temporary copiesScheduled for deletion within 30 days after pickup, unless the job is documented otherwise.
Service reportsAbout three years on local storage, then air-gapped archive. Passwords stay out.

Long-term service records may be retained indefinitely for accounting, tax, warranty, historical service, dispute, fraud-prevention, legal, insurance, or legitimate business purposes. Passwords and other temporary access credentials are not intentionally retained as part of those long-term service records.

16 Access, correction, and deletion requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information maintained by BYT2L. We will make reasonable efforts to honor a verified request, subject to information we must or may retain for accounting, taxes, warranties, disputes, fraud prevention, legal obligations, security, or other legitimate business purposes.

When a verified deletion request is approved, BYT2L may remove contact information and unnecessary device details while retaining limited information needed to identify historical service records. For example, we may retain a client’s first and last name so an archived service report can be located. Device identifiers may be retained for up to 90 days after service where reasonably necessary to administer our labor warranty or related service obligations.

BYT2L may require identity verification before releasing, changing, or deleting sensitive records. Depending on the sensitivity of the request, verification may require an in-person government-issued photo ID or another method reasonably designed to confirm the requester’s identity. Less-sensitive historical service information may be provided when the request reasonably matches information already associated with the client record.

Use the privacy-request form on this page. Requests submitted through the form may generate an automated confirmation to the requester and will be routed to the BYT2L privacy-request team.

17 Abandoned equipment, recycling, and data destruction

Equipment surrendered for recycling, abandoned under our Terms, or submitted for data-destruction service is handled according to the applicable service authorization, e-waste release, data-destruction process, and shop procedures. Storage devices may be securely erased, physically destroyed, or otherwise rendered inaccessible depending on the media, service requested, and condition of the equipment.

Where BYT2L issues a Certificate of Data Destruction or similar documentation, the certificate describes the destruction service performed. Clients should not assume that ordinary recycling automatically includes a specific destruction method unless that service is documented.

18 Security of client information

BYT2L uses reasonable physical, administrative, and technical safeguards appropriate to a small technology-service business. Depending on the information and workflow, safeguards may include secured shop custody, restricted access, encrypted local storage, password protection, air-gapped archives, controlled remote access, cross-cut shredding of credential-bearing paper, and procedures intended to reduce unnecessary retention of sensitive information.

No storage, transmission, device, network, or security system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure. Clients should avoid sending highly sensitive credentials through insecure channels unless specifically instructed for an authorized service.

19 Security breach notification

If BYT2L discovers a security breach involving information for which notification is required by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, contain, and remediate the incident and will provide notice to affected persons and/or other required parties as required by law. Our data-minimization, credential-deletion, and limited temporary-retention practices are intended to reduce the amount of sensitive information exposed if an incident occurs.

20 Other websites and third-party services

Our website, service reports, recommendations, or communications may link to third-party websites, manufacturers, financial institutions, payment services, security vendors, privacy services, government agencies, or other resources. BYT2L does not control those third parties’ privacy practices. When you provide information directly to a third party, that party’s terms and privacy policy govern its collection and use.

21 Business transfers

If BYT2L is sold, merged, reorganized, or transferred to a successor business, customer and service records may be included among the business assets transferred. Any successor receiving those records will be expected to handle them subject to applicable law and the privacy commitments in effect at the time of transfer, unless a new policy is lawfully provided.

22 Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this policy as our services, website, technology, vendors, or legal obligations change. The updated date at the beginning of the policy will identify the current version. Material changes may also be identified on this page or through another reasonable notice. Continued use of our website or services after an updated policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.

23 Contact and privacy requests

Questions, privacy requests, or concerns about how BYT2L handles personal information may be submitted through:

BYT2L plans to route privacy-form submissions to a dedicated internal privacy-request email group and to send the requester an automated acknowledgment from a no-reply business address. The public privacy-request address may be added to this policy once that mailbox or group is created.
